Brighton’s Hidden Gallery: A Journey Through Artistic Time

Step into Brighton’s Hidden Gallery this month and you’ll be stepping back in time. Nestled in the heart of North Laine, this artistic gem is unveiling a collection of original exhibition posters, designed by some of the most influential artists of the last century.

Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, and Banksy are just a few of the names that grace the walls of this Kensington Gardens gallery. Some of these posters date back to 1945, offering a unique glimpse into the evolution of art and design over the decades.

Juliet Dicker-Holton, the gallery manager, beautifully encapsulates the essence of this collection. “Original artists’ posters sit at the intersection between fine art, graphic design, and pop culture,” she explains. These pieces are more than just advertisements for past exhibitions; they’re a testament to the artists’ passion and creativity, designed to captivate and inspire.

Walking through the Hidden Gallery is like stepping into a time capsule of the most exciting moments in the history of modern art. The display offers an insight into the artists’ commercial identity, beyond the works people are typically familiar with.

Set against the backdrop of Brighton’s vibrant cultural scene, the exhibition also features pieces from the gallery’s broader collection. Expect to see signed works by artists such as Joan MirĂł and Invader, adding to the rich tapestry of artistic talent on display.

The exhibition runs until March 6, with the gallery opening its doors from 10am to 5pm Wednesday to Saturday, and 11am to 4pm on Sunday. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to delve into the world of Picasso, Warhol, and Banksy, right here in Brighton’s Hidden Gallery.

Finding a mortgage

Buying a house is a massive investment and getting it just slightly wrong can be costly. Unless you have big savings, chances are you’re going to have to get a mortgage. It’s a loan secured against the property which means if you can’t meet the repayments the lender may repossess your home and sell it to get their money back.

The better you understand mortgages and everything to do with them, the better armed you will be to get the very best deal. With MMR in place, you’ll need to review your finances themselves before approaching possible lenders to see whether you can afford the monthly payments now and if interest rates go up, which they will…

What is MMR?

When it comes to finding a mortgage you have several options: mortgage brokers, individual banks or searching online. Again, it’s important to do your research. Searching online first, gives you a good idea of what’s available, but an independent mortgage broker can provide a more in-depth search and help you through the process. Being independent holds great value as they are not bias to any particular lenders or deals, they will give you their honest opinion and take away the stress of working your way through the mortgage market, they work for you to find you the best package to suit your requirements.
