Brighton Crowned UK's Top Dog-Friendly City
Brighton, the vibrant seaside city in Sussex, has been crowned the UK’s most dog-friendly city. This is according to a recent study by Animal Friends Pet Insurance, which considered various factors such as the availability of dog training classes, walking hotspots, green spaces, and dog-friendly pubs.
The study also revealed that the French Bulldog is the most popular dog breed in Brighton, with Teddy and Bella being the most favoured names for our four-legged friends.
When it comes to dog-friendly pubs, The Basketmakers Arms in North Laine and The Park View near Preston Park have been named as two of the most popular. For those who prefer a café atmosphere, Joe’s Café in Upper Hamilton Road and Alcampo Lounge in London Road are recognised as being the most welcoming for dogs.
Brighton’s top ranking is not just a win for the city but also for other dog-friendly cities in the UK. The top ten list includes Exeter, Chester, Colchester, Bath, and York.
Despite Brighton’s accolade, Animal Friends Pet Insurance encourages people across the city and the UK to ensure they are prepared when introducing a dog into their households.
Catrin George, an animal wellbeing specialist at Animal Friends Pet Insurance, emphasised the importance of being aware of the costs and considerations of owning a dog. She said, “Adding a dog to your family can be an incredibly rewarding and meaningful experience, but it’s important to be aware of these costs and considerations upfront to make sure you can provide for your dog throughout their life.”
She added, “As long as you’re providing a loving home and your pooch has everything they need, that’s all that matters.”
So, whether you’re a Brighton resident or planning a visit, rest assured that your furry friend will be welcomed with open arms!
