Brighton & Hove’s Inaugural Tree Festival Kicks Off

This weekend, Brighton and Hove will be buzzing with a unique celebration – the city’s first-ever Tree Festival. This remarkable event, the first of its kind in our beloved city, will span across two weekends, offering a myriad of activities for all to enjoy.

This festival, organised by a dedicated team of volunteers, aims to raise awareness of the immense value of trees to our city and its residents. It’s an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of our urban forest and understand its importance in our daily lives.

The festival’s agenda is packed with a variety of events, including guided walks, children’s workshops, music, and poetry. One of the highlights is ‘The City’s Unique Elm Trees Walk’, a guided tour that will introduce you to the city’s distinctive elm trees.

The festival is generously supported by Sussex countryside charity, CPRE Sussex, and sponsored by Connick Tree Care, Hanningtons Brighton, and Rampion Offshore Wind. It’s a testament to the community spirit in Brighton and Hove, with businesses and charities coming together to celebrate and protect our natural environment.

A spokesperson for the festival said, “The Tree Festival’s family-friendly events highlight the importance of Brighton and Hove’s trees and their immense value to the city and its residents. The festival runs over two weekends in May, coinciding with the London Urban Tree Festival.”

For more information about specific events across the city, visit the CPRE Sussex website. So, why not join in the festivities? It’s a chance to learn, have fun, and most importantly, appreciate the trees that make Brighton and Hove so special.

Finding a mortgage

Buying a house is a massive investment and getting it just slightly wrong can be costly. Unless you have big savings, chances are you’re going to have to get a mortgage. It’s a loan secured against the property which means if you can’t meet the repayments the lender may repossess your home and sell it to get their money back.

The better you understand mortgages and everything to do with them, the better armed you will be to get the very best deal. With MMR in place, you’ll need to review your finances themselves before approaching possible lenders to see whether you can afford the monthly payments now and if interest rates go up, which they will…

What is MMR?

When it comes to finding a mortgage you have several options: mortgage brokers, individual banks or searching online. Again, it’s important to do your research. Searching online first, gives you a good idea of what’s available, but an independent mortgage broker can provide a more in-depth search and help you through the process. Being independent holds great value as they are not bias to any particular lenders or deals, they will give you their honest opinion and take away the stress of working your way through the mortgage market, they work for you to find you the best package to suit your requirements.
