Brighton Shines as One of UK’s Top Pet-Friendly Havens

If you’re a pet owner planning your next staycation, you might want to set your sights on Sussex. Three of its charming towns – Hastings, Eastbourne, and Brighton – have been recognised as some of the most pet-friendly places in the UK for a holiday.

Howden Insurance conducted a study that analysed the percentage of pet-friendly properties listed on Airbnb and Booking.com across various towns and cities. The results were paw-sitively delightful for Sussex, with Hastings, Eastbourne, and Brighton all making it into the top ten.

Hastings, known for its historic Old Town and stunning seafront, secured the third spot. Nearly 41% of properties listed on these popular holiday rental platforms in Hastings welcome pets. So, whether you’re exploring the picturesque Hastings Country Park or strolling along the beach, your furry friend can join in the fun.

Eastbourne, another Sussex gem, ranked fifth. With 39.11% of its listed properties being pet-friendly, it’s a fantastic choice for a pet-inclusive getaway. Known for its Victorian seafront and the iconic Beachy Head cliffs, Eastbourne offers plenty of outdoor adventures for you and your pet.

Not to be left out, the vibrant city of Brighton also made the list, ranking ninth. With 36% of its 476 properties listed as pet-friendly on these holiday websites, it’s clear that Brighton embraces the pet-loving culture. From its lively beach to its bustling lanes, Brighton is a city that both you and your pet will adore.

A spokesperson for Howden Insurance highlighted the importance of such findings, saying, “Pet owners often face the dilemma of leaving their beloved pets behind when planning vacations… These findings shed light on which cities provide the most accommodation options for pet owners looking to bring their furry companions along for their city breaks.”

While Norwich topped the list as the most pet-friendly place overall in the UK, Brighton’s strong showing is a testament to its welcoming nature. So, pet owners, pack your bags (and your pet’s too!) – Brighton is calling.

Finding a mortgage

Buying a house is a massive investment and getting it just slightly wrong can be costly. Unless you have big savings, chances are you’re going to have to get a mortgage. It’s a loan secured against the property which means if you can’t meet the repayments the lender may repossess your home and sell it to get their money back.

The better you understand mortgages and everything to do with them, the better armed you will be to get the very best deal. With MMR in place, you’ll need to review your finances themselves before approaching possible lenders to see whether you can afford the monthly payments now and if interest rates go up, which they will…

What is MMR?

When it comes to finding a mortgage you have several options: mortgage brokers, individual banks or searching online. Again, it’s important to do your research. Searching online first, gives you a good idea of what’s available, but an independent mortgage broker can provide a more in-depth search and help you through the process. Being independent holds great value as they are not bias to any particular lenders or deals, they will give you their honest opinion and take away the stress of working your way through the mortgage market, they work for you to find you the best package to suit your requirements.
